Ricky Williams: No More Running

Can someone be a sports hero for having the courage not to play? This is the question being posed by Ricky Williams, the iconoclastic NFL All-Pro running back who retired from the Miami Dolphins this past weekend.

 

Williams is 27 years old, injury-free, and at the height of his football and earning powers. But such reasons wither in the light of the fact that the man simply has no interest in playing football.

 

Through Miami Herald columnist Dan LeBatard, Williams is making it crystal clear why he wants out.

 

''I just don't want to be in this business anymore,'' said Williams.
